Tre'von Moehrig built his reputation as a rangy, instinctive safety over four seasons in Las Vegas before cashing in on a major free-agent deal. Now anchoring Carolina's secondary, he combines tackling consistency with the kind of playmaking that made him a college award winner. He remains one of the more complete safeties in the league heading into his sixth NFL season.

Path to the league

Moehrig starred at TCU from 2018-2020, finishing his college career with 125 tackles, seven interceptions and 28 passes defensed. His standout 2020 season earned him the Paycom Jim Thorpe Award as the nation's top defensive back along with multiple All-American honors. The Las Vegas Raiders selected him in the second round, 43rd overall, of the 2021 NFL Draft.

Career highlights

Over four seasons with the Raiders, Moehrig racked up 294 tackles, six interceptions, 29 passes defensed and 3.0 sacks while establishing himself as a full-time starter at safety. His blend of coverage instincts and physicality made him one of the more productive young safeties in the AFC before hitting free agency.

2025 season recap

Moehrig signed a three-year, $51 million deal with Carolina and delivered immediately, starting all 16 games and posting 103 total tackles, 3.0 sacks, two passes defensed and an interception. His 14 tackles for loss set the NFL single-season record for a defensive back, underscoring his value as a run-support presence as much as a coverage safety.
