Trey Moore built his name as one of the most disruptive edge rushers in UTSA history before transferring to Texas for the final two years of his career. The Dolphins took him in the fourth round of the 2026 draft, and he signed a four-year rookie deal worth $5.42 million.
Path to the league
Moore came out of Smithson Valley High School in Comal County, Texas, and started his college career at UTSA in 2021. He barely played as a freshman before breaking out the following two seasons, then transferred to Texas in December 2023 for his final two years.
Career highlights
At UTSA, Moore set the school's single-season tackles-for-loss record with 18 in 2022 and the program's sack record with 14 in 2023, a season that also brought him AAC Defensive Player of the Year honors and First-team All-AAC recognition. He was a William V. Campbell Trophy finalist in 2024, his first year at Texas.
2025 season recap
Moore returned to Texas for a senior season after a 2024 campaign in which he started all 16 games with 35 tackles, 10 for loss, 5.5 sacks and two forced fumbles. He became the second Texas linebacker drafted in 2026, joining second-rounder Anthony Hill Jr., when Miami selected him 130th overall.
