Tru Edwards is a 6-foot-3 wide receiver who took a winding path through four different colleges before breaking out at Louisiana Tech in 2024. He is the son of Troy Edwards, the 1998 Biletnikoff Award winner who went on to a seven-year NFL career, and he now wears No. 16 for the Los Angeles Rams after signing as an undrafted free agent.
Path to the league
Edwards began his college career at Navarro College, where he caught 54 passes for 791 yards and six touchdowns over two seasons, before a brief stop at Hawaii. He landed at Louisiana Tech in 2022, redshirting that year before working his way into the lineup. Undrafted in 2025, he signed with the Rams as a free agent.
Career highlights
Edwards' breakout came in 2024 at Louisiana Tech, where he led the team with 84 receptions for 986 yards and eight touchdowns and earned first-team All-Conference USA honors. He was the only receiver in the conference to top 70 catches that season, finishing second in the league in yards.
2025 season recap
As a rookie, Edwards spent the year working through the Rams' roster process, eventually signing a reserve/futures contract with Los Angeles on January 27, 2026, to keep his roster spot secured heading into the offseason program.
