A prolific Pittsburgh receiver who transferred from Akron and became Sean McVay's final pick in the 2025 draft.
Konata Mumpfield burst onto the scene as a freshman All-American at Akron before transferring to Pittsburgh, where he became one of the ACC's steadiest pass-catchers. The Rams took him with the final pick of the 2025 draft, and he quietly carved out a role in a deep Los Angeles receiver room as a rookie.
Path to the league
Mumpfield opened his college career at Akron in 2021, catching 63 passes for 751 yards and eight touchdowns as a freshman and earning Freshman All-American and second-team All-MAC honors. He transferred to Pittsburgh for 2022-2024, finishing with 154 receptions for 1,940 yards and 11 touchdowns as a Panther, including an All-ACC honorable mention senior season with 52 catches for 813 yards. The Los Angeles Rams selected him with the 242nd overall pick, the seventh round and final pick of the 2025 NFL Draft.
Career highlights
Mumpfield's freshman season at Akron remains one of the standout debuts in program history, and his three-year run at Pittsburgh made him one of the Panthers' most reliable targets. He joined a deep Rams receiver room featuring Puka Nacua and Davante Adams as a rookie.
2025 season recap
Mumpfield appeared in all 17 regular-season games for the Rams as a rookie, catching 10 passes for 92 yards and a touchdown, including his first career score on a 5-yard catch against Jacksonville at Wembley Stadium. He added three receptions for 22 yards across three playoff games.
