Tyler Baron took a long road through three college programs before the Jets drafted him as a pass rusher out of Miami in 2025.

Tyler Baron spent four seasons at Tennessee before a final year at Miami, giving the Jets a physical, well-traveled edge rusher on Day 3 of the 2025 draft. His rookie season was cut short by injury, but the 6-foot-5 defensive end flashed the tools that made him a productive college pass rusher.

Path to the league

Baron played four seasons at Tennessee from 2020 to 2023, recording 13.5 sacks and 27 tackles for loss for the Volunteers, before transferring to Miami for his final college season in 2024, where he added 5.5 sacks. The Jets selected him in the fifth round, 176th overall, in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Career highlights

Baron drew scholarship interest from programs including Alabama, Florida State, LSU, Ole Miss and Ohio State out of high school before settling at Tennessee. Across his college career at Tennessee and Miami, he totaled double-digit sacks and more than 100 tackles as a rotational and eventual full-time pass rusher.

2025 season recap

Baron appeared in six games as a rookie, recording nine combined tackles, before his season ended early. He was placed on injured reserve after suffering a knee injury in Week 14 against the Miami Dolphins.
