Xavier Newman-Johnson took the long road to the NFL, starting dozens of games at Baylor before going unselected in the 2022 draft. He has since found a home with the New York Jets, providing versatile depth at guard and center.
Path to the league
Newman-Johnson played five seasons at Baylor from 2017 to 2021, appearing in 47 games with 37 starts along the interior offensive line. He signed with the Tennessee Titans as an undrafted free agent in 2022, making his NFL debut that December against Dallas.
Career highlights
After being waived by the Titans in October 2023, Newman-Johnson signed to the Jets' practice squad and has since worked his way into the team's offensive line rotation, appearing in games at both guard and center. He has played in more than 20 games for New York across multiple seasons.
2025 season recap
