The NFL suspended San Francisco 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw for one game without pay for unsportsmanlike conduct after he head-butted Seattle linebacker Ernest Jones IV, who was not wearing a helmet, during Sunday's 32-29 win over the Seahawks. Greenlaw was ejected from the game.
What happened?
With 6:30 left in the first half and San Francisco up 14-10, Sam Darnold scrambled toward the Seattle sideline and stepped out of bounds as Greenlaw hit him, drawing a late-hit flag. Several Seahawks confronted Greenlaw, he and Jones exchanged words, and Greenlaw, still in his helmet, leaned in and made contact with Jones' face. It was his third career ejection, after a late hit on Justin Herbert in 2022 and a sideline altercation in Philadelphia in 2023.

It fined him $11,941 on Saturday for unsportsmanlike conduct, apparently for repeatedly yelling at Denver's sideline and Sean Payton in Week 4. The article does not say whether Greenlaw will appeal. The 49ers, 5-0 and already without Nick Bosa, C.J. West and Kyle Juszczyk, host Washington on Monday night in Week 6.
