Bills Lose D.J. Moore to Shoulder Injury, Ed Oliver to Hip in Win Over Lions
Moore landed on his left shoulder in the end zone late in the first half and did not return; Oliver hurt his hip in warmups and was a late scratch. Joe Brady had no update on either after the 41-31 win.
The Buffalo Bills opened their new stadium with a 41-31 win over Detroit on Thursday night but lost two starters along the way. Receiver D.J. Moore was ruled out at halftime with a shoulder injury, and defensive tackle Ed Oliver was made inactive after hurting his hip in pregame warmups.
What happened to Moore?
He landed hard on his left shoulder in the end zone late in the second quarter, was listed as questionable and then downgraded to out at the half. He had no catches before leaving. Moore, acquired from Chicago in an offseason trade, had five receptions for 100 yards and a touchdown in the opener at Houston. Coach Joe Brady offered no update after the game.
And Oliver?
The team has not said how the hip injury happened beyond that it came during warmups. Oliver had five tackles, a quarterback hit and a fumble recovery against the Texans, and Buffalo was already without defensive tackle T.J. Sanders. The Bills have a long week before their next game, Sept. 27.
