The Massachusetts Gaming Commission has opened an investigation into former Arizona Cardinals scouting executive Ryan Gold over alleged unusual betting patterns tied to him in the state, adding to an existing Arizona Department of Gaming inquiry launched in July.

The NFL suspended Gold indefinitely in July after finding he disclosed confidential draft information and participated in wagers involving football games. Arizona's gaming regulator opened its own inquiry around the same time.

Gold has appealed his NFL suspension, with a hearing scheduled for Sept. 23. His attorney, Mike Caspino, told ESPN: "There is absolutely zero substance to the claims made against Ryan Gold." Specific details of the alleged Massachusetts betting patterns have not been disclosed.
