The Dallas Cowboys acquired offensive tackle Broderick Jones from the Pittsburgh Steelers, with Dallas also receiving a 2027 fourth-round pick while sending Pittsburgh third- and sixth-round picks in 2027.
Why did Pittsburgh move on from him?
Jones was the Steelers' first-round pick in 2023 out of Georgia, where he played right tackle in college. Pittsburgh moved him to left tackle, where he struggled, ranking 65th of 68 qualifying tackles in pass-block win rate through the first 11 weeks of the 2025 season before a season-ending neck injury that required spinal fusion surgery. He reportedly had setbacks in his 2026 recovery that clouded his availability for Week 1.
What's the plan in Dallas?
Jones is expected to compete at right tackle, his natural position from college and his rookie year, giving the Cowboys depth at both tackle spots behind left tackle Tyler Guyton, who has had a strong camp, and right tackle Terence Steele, who has been inconsistent.
