Giants Returner Braxton Berrios to Have Season-Ending Foot Surgery
Berrios announced the surgery on his 31st birthday. It is the third straight season cut short by injury for the Giants' primary punt and kickoff returner, and Charlie Jones takes over.
New York Giants receiver and returner Braxton Berrios will have season-ending surgery on his foot, he said Tuesday on Instagram. "I'd be lying if I said I wasn't miserable right now," he wrote on what was also his 31st birthday.
What was his role?
Berrios handled punt and kickoff returns and was the fourth receiver, with no catches on 23 offensive snaps and a 2.5-yard punt return average this season. He was hurt Sunday against Arizona. His career totals are 140 catches for 1,360 yards and six touchdowns, and this is the third year in a row an injury has ended his season early.
Who returns kicks now?
Charlie Jones, who took over against the Cardinals and had two punt returns for 29 yards and a 23-yard kickoff return average. The Giants also signed receiver Dontae Fleming to the practice squad.
