Week 5: Giants Visit Commanders With Washington's Quarterback Situation Unresolved
The New York Giants visit the Washington Commanders on Sunday, October 11. New York is 3-1 after a 36-24 win over Arizona in which Jameis Winston threw three touchdown passes and Deonte Banks returned an interception 98 yards; J.J. McCarthy has been with the team for a week. Washington is 1-3 after a 30-13 loss to Indianapolis in London in which Marcus Mariota injured his knee and rookie Athan Kaliakmanis finished; Dan Quinn's hope is that Jayden Daniels returns from his elbow dislocation this week.
Daniels or Kaliakmanis
Quinn called a Daniels return "the hope for sure"; the rookie went 15 of 33.
Winston's week
Three touchdown passes, two interceptions, and a win.
New York's defense
Seventy-nine points allowed in four games, with two defensive touchdowns.
AI Prediction
Giants
Commanders New York's defense against whichever Washington quarterback starts
The Giants have forced turnovers in every game.
Daniels changes the calculation
If he is confirmed to start, this moves toward even.
Washington's defense has allowed 122 points
The most in the league, which is why the Giants are favored even with Winston.
A Low-confidence road lean that assumes Washington's quarterback is Daniels at less than full strength or Kaliakmanis.
