Lions Rule Out Christian Mahogany and Blake Miller for Thursday Night at Buffalo
Detroit will start Ben Bartch at left guard and Larry Borom at right tackle on a short week, with Dan Campbell saying Mahogany's hip injury is not a long-term concern.
The Detroit Lions will be without two starting offensive linemen for Thursday night's game in Buffalo. Left guard Christian Mahogany (hip) and rookie right tackle Blake Miller (knee) were ruled out on Wednesday.
What are the injuries?
Mahogany was carted off in the first quarter of Sunday's overtime win over New Orleans after stumbling on a noncontact play in the open field. "I don't think this is something serious long term, but it could be tough to get him ready for Thursday," Campbell said earlier in the week. Miller, the 17th overall pick, felt knee pain during the Saints game that got worse afterward: "You come off after a drive, something feels a little weird ... the adrenaline wears off and you start to notice it a little more."
Who fills in?
Ben Bartch starts at left guard and Larry Borom at right tackle. "I mean, we've got enough depth here to get through this," Campbell said. The patched-up line will face Buffalo in the first regular-season game at the new Highmark Stadium, three days after Jahmyr Gibbs carried 29 times behind the full unit.
