Patrick Mahomes Feeling 'Great,' on Track to Start Week 1
The Chiefs quarterback hasn't missed a practice since being cleared for full football activity in late July, though the medical staff hasn't yet cleared him for preseason game action.
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes says he's on track to start Week 1 as he continues recovering from the torn ACL and LCL that ended his 2025 season, roughly nine months removed from surgery.
What did he say?
"Honestly, the more we practice, the better I feel," Mahomes said. "This has always been the plan. From the day I got the surgery, as quick as I did, to hopefully the first game of the year."
Has he been cleared for game action yet?
Mahomes hasn't missed a Chiefs practice since being cleared for full football activity in late July, but the medical staff has not yet formally cleared him for games, and he's expected to sit out Friday's preseason finale against Seattle. Coach Andy Reid confirmed the medical staff hasn't cleared him for preseason play, while offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy said Mahomes is "itching to get back out there."
