NFL Eliminates the Pro Bowl, Will Still Name Pro Bowlers

The NFL has eliminated the Pro Bowl as an event, ending a streak of some version of the game or skills competition being held every season since 1951.
Why is the league dropping it?
The NFL says the decision follows years of surveying players about the format, and the league is moving away from hosting a game or skills challenges altogether.
What happens to Pro Bowl selection?
Selection reverts to a pure honor. Players will still be named Pro Bowlers and invited to an in-person celebration during the traditional Pro Bowl weekend, but there will be no game. The 88 selected players will constitute the official rosters outright, with no alternates. The league says further details on the celebration format and roster reveal will be announced later.
