Vikings Sign Odell Beckham Jr. to Practice Squad With Jefferson and Addison Hurt
Beckham, 33, had no catches in three games for the Giants before his release. Kevin O'Connell, who coached him in Los Angeles in 2021, did not rule out elevating him for Sunday at New Orleans.
The Minnesota Vikings signed receiver Odell Beckham Jr. to their practice squad on Wednesday, eight days after the Giants released him. Justin Jefferson (ankle) and Jordan Addison (hamstring) are both hurt, and Minnesota's third receiver, Jauan Jennings, has two catches on four targets this season.
Could he play this week?
O'Connell would not rule it out. "I've seen him do it before," he said, pointing to 2021, when Beckham joined the Rams and played three days later with O'Connell as offensive coordinator. "The good thing about our system is we've got some mechanisms that either he can quickly learn and know those are absolutes if we need to go that route in the game, if he were to be elevated."
What does he have left?
Unknown. Beckham played 19 snaps in three games for New York without a catch. His career totals are 575 receptions for 7,987 yards and 59 touchdowns. Behind Jefferson, Addison and Jennings, the Vikings have second-year receivers Tai Felton and Myles Price.
