Ravens Trade for Eagles Center Cam Jurgens After Losing Both of Theirs

Baltimore sends a 2028 second-round pick and a 2027 fifth to Philadelphia for the two-time Pro Bowler and a 2027 seventh. Jurgens is in the concussion protocol, so rookie Vega Ioane is still expected to start at center Sunday night in Atlanta.

The Baltimore Ravens acquired center Cam Jurgens from the Philadelphia Eagles on Wednesday, three days after losing starter Jovaughn Gwyn and backup Ethan Pocic to long-term injuries in Rio de Janeiro. Baltimore gave up a 2028 second-round pick and a 2027 fifth-round pick and gets Jurgens plus a 2027 seventh.

Why did Baltimore pay a second-round pick?

Because it was down to its fourth option at center. Gwyn broke his fibula and is out two to three months, Pocic has a knee injury, and Tyler Linderbaum left for Las Vegas in March. Jurgens, 27, has made two Pro Bowls and is signed through 2029. He is in the concussion protocol after Sunday's game, so first-round rookie Vega Ioane is expected to start against the Falcons on Sunday night.

Why would Philadelphia move him?

The Eagles had shifted Jurgens to left guard after Landon Dickerson's injury and he struggled there, while Drew Kendall has started the past three games at center. General manager Howie Roseman said the team "weren't looking to move Jurgens" but that talks came together over 24 hours, and he described the return and the cap room as "getting four players for one." Kendall stays at center for Philadelphia.
