Baker Mayfield's career arc looked finished by 2022. Two and a half years later he is one of the steadiest starting quarterbacks in football. Tampa Bay re-signed him to a three-year, $100 million extension after another playoff appearance in 2025, and the Bucs continue to be one of the toughest teams to beat in the NFC South.
Path to the league
Walk-on at Oklahoma who won the 2017 Heisman. Browns took him first overall in 2018. Cleveland years included a 2020 playoff win, then a fall-off that led to trades through Carolina and a finish with the Rams. Signed with Tampa in 2023 to compete for the starting job and won it outright.

3,693 passing yards, 28 TDs, 12 INTs. Tampa went 10-7, won the NFC South, lost to Detroit in the Divisional Round. Mayfield's 2025 was the cleanest of his career on a per-attempt basis. Mike Evans hit 1,000 yards for the 13th consecutive season catching balls from him.
