Billy Bowman Jr. is a rookie defensive back for the Falcons, drafted in the fourth round out of Oklahoma after a decorated four-year college career. He flashed playmaking ability early in his first NFL season before a serious injury ended his 2025 campaign.

Path to the league

Bowman started 41 of 47 games across four seasons at Oklahoma, earning First-Team All-American honors in 2023 after intercepting six passes, three of which he returned for touchdowns. He was a team captain and added a Third-Team All-SEC selection in 2024 following the Sooners' move to the conference. The Falcons drafted him in the fourth round with the No. 118 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Career highlights

Bowman's college resume was built on instinctive route recognition and ball production, with nine career interceptions and multiple pick-sixes at Oklahoma. Undersized for the position at the next level, he was viewed by scouts as a candidate to move to nickel cornerback in the pros given his experience there in college.

2025 season recap

Bowman appeared in six games as a rookie, recording 26 combined tackles, an interception, two pass deflections, 1.5 sacks and a forced fumble before his season ended early. He was placed on injured reserve on November 22, 2025, with a confirmed torn Achilles tendon.
