C.J. Henderson entered the league as a top-ten pick with elite cover skills at Florida, but injuries and inconsistent opportunities have defined a career of stops and starts. A late-2025 promotion produced one of the biggest plays of his year.

Path to the league

Henderson starred at Florida, finishing his college career with 93 tackles, 26 passes broken up and six interceptions over 33 games. The Jacksonville Jaguars selected him ninth overall in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Career highlights

After a rookie season cut short by injury, Henderson was traded from Jacksonville to Carolina in September 2021. His most complete season came in 2022 with the Panthers, when he played 17 games with 10 starts, recording 58 tackles, two interceptions and six pass breakups. He later signed with Pittsburgh in 2024 but missed the season after being placed on injured reserve with a neck injury.

2025 season recap

Henderson joined the Falcons late in the 2025 season after being promoted from the practice squad, playing in four games with two starts. He made an immediate impact with a game-sealing interception in Week 16, his first pick since 2022, finishing the stretch with 13 tackles and three passes defensed.
