Robert Longerbeam arrived in Baltimore as a sixth-round pick out of Rutgers, bringing a 4.39-second 40-yard dash and three years of Big Ten starting experience at cornerback. He was drawing praise for his early camp performance before a season-ending injury sidelined him for his entire rookie campaign.

Path to the league

Longerbeam originally committed to Virginia Tech as part of the 2020 recruiting class before flipping to Rutgers following the hiring of coach Greg Schiano. He became a three-year starter for the Scarlet Knights in the Big Ten, and the Ravens selected him in the sixth round, 212th overall, of the 2025 NFL Draft.

Career highlights

Over 53 games and 31 starts at Rutgers, Longerbeam piled up 154 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, five interceptions and 37 pass breakups, finishing with 42 career passes defensed. He solidified his draft stock with a 4.39-second 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine.

2025 season recap

Longerbeam was making a strong early impression in Ravens camp as a rookie, but he suffered a torn patella tendon that ended his season before it could get started. He was placed on injured reserve and did not appear in a regular-season game in 2025.
