Bo Melton has carved out a roster spot in Green Bay through sheer versatility, bouncing from receiver to cornerback and back again. A seventh-round pick out of Rutgers, he is best remembered for one of the most productive first starts in franchise history.

Path to the league

Melton played five seasons at Rutgers (2017-21), appearing in 56 games with 42 starts and finishing his career ranked sixth in program history with 164 receptions. The Seattle Seahawks selected him in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft, but he did not make Seattle's final roster and instead landed on Green Bay's roster after a practice-squad stint.

Career highlights

Melton made his first career start at Minnesota in Week 17 of the 2023 season, catching six passes for 105 yards and a touchdown, becoming the first Packer to post 100-plus receiving yards and a receiving score in his first NFL start since Jarrett Boykin in 2013. Ahead of the 2025 season, the Packers experimented with moving him to cornerback before ultimately returning him to receiver.

2025 season recap

Melton appeared in 16 games with one start in 2025, catching four passes for 107 yards and a touchdown while also logging four combined tackles during his brief time working as a defensive back. He was placed on season-ending injured reserve on January 7, 2026, after suffering a knee injury in the Week 18 game against Minnesota.
