D'Angelo Ross took the long road, from junior college in Fullerton to New Mexico to years of practice squads before finally sticking as an NFL contributor. A signature playoff moment with Houston put his name in the record book before he moved on to Cleveland.

Path to the league

Ross began his college career at Fullerton College before transferring to the University of New Mexico, where he posted 57 tackles, an interception and six pass deflections as a senior. He signed with the New England Patriots as an undrafted free agent after the 2019 NFL Draft.

Career highlights

Ross spent several seasons cycling through practice squads with New England, Miami and Houston before earning a lasting role with the Texans. On January 11, 2025, he made playoff history, returning a blocked extra point for a defensive two-point conversion, the first such play in the postseason since the rule was implemented in 2015.

2025 season recap

Ross remained with Houston through most of 2025 before the Cleveland Browns signed him off the Texans' practice squad on November 19, 2025. He finished the season with the Browns and totaled 33 tackles and four pass deflections for the year, then re-signed with Cleveland in March 2026.
