Demani Richardson is a hard-hitting safety who went undrafted out of Texas A&M before earning his way onto Carolina's roster in 2024. He has since become a dependable rotational piece in the Panthers' defensive backfield, flashing playmaking ability against some of the SEC's best during his college career.

Path to the league

Richardson played five seasons at Texas A&M from 2019 to 2023, finishing with 304 tackles, four interceptions and four fumble recoveries. He earned SEC All-Freshman honors in 2019 and delivered signature college moments, including an end-zone interception of Alabama's Bryce Young during a 2021 upset and two fumble-return touchdowns in 2022 that earned him SEC co-defensive player of the week. He signed with the Panthers as an undrafted free agent in May 2024.

Career highlights

Richardson made an immediate impact as a rookie, recording an interception against reigning UFL MVP Adrian Martinez in the 2024 preseason and finishing his first NFL season with 51 total tackles and two pass deflections, including a regular-season interception.

2025 season recap

Richardson continued as a contributor in Carolina's secondary in 2025, with career totals through the season reaching 58 tackles, one interception, two pass deflections and a fumble recovery. He re-signed with the Panthers on a reserve/future contract in January 2026, cementing his place on the roster after moving between the active roster and practice squad over his first two seasons.
