Former college quarterback turned Steelers tackle who broke through with a strong 2025.
Dylan Cook took an unusual road to the NFL, converting from quarterback to the offensive line during his college days at Montana. The 6-foot-6 tackle emerged as a quietly effective contributor for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2025.
Path to the league
Cook began as a quarterback before transferring to Montana as a walk-on and making the rare switch to the offensive line. He went undrafted and worked his way onto the Steelers roster, developing into a viable swing tackle option.
2025 season
Cook earned a 76.0 overall PFF grade in 2025, which ranked 22nd among 89 qualified offensive tackles, and his 80.7 pass-blocking grade ranked 8th. In his first career start against the Miami Dolphins, he played all 66 offensive snaps, did not allow a pressure across 30 pass-blocking reps, and was the Steelers' highest-graded offensive player that night by PFF.
Career highlights
Cook's breakout against Miami drew praise around Pittsburgh, with some pointing to him as a possible piece of the team's future at tackle. His clean pass-protection numbers helped keep quarterback Aaron Rodgers upright when he was called upon.
