A Division II record-breaker who threw for over 13,000 career yards at Minnesota State Moorhead before signing with the Falcons.
Jack Strand signed with the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent after becoming arguably the most decorated quarterback in Minnesota State Moorhead history. A Wisconsin native who twice earned NSIC Offensive Player of the Year honors, he became the first Dragons player to sign with an NFL team since 2017.
Path to the league
Strand was born June 23, 2004, in Bloomer, Wisconsin, and played high school football at Bloomer High School before enrolling at Minnesota State Moorhead. He started as a true freshman in 2022 and went on to play four seasons for the Dragons, breaking single-season and career program passing records along the way. He signed with the Falcons as an undrafted free agent in 2026, wearing No. 18.
Career highlights
Strand finished his Division II career with 13,161 passing yards and 126 touchdowns, both top-10 marks in NCAA Division II history. He was named NSIC Offensive Player of the Year twice, in 2023 and 2025, earned first-team All-NSIC honors multiple times, and was a finalist for the Harlon Hill Trophy, Division II's Heisman equivalent. He was also the first MSUM student-athlete named CSC Academic All-America Team Member of the Year.
2025 season recap
In his senior season, Strand threw for 3,546 yards and 42 touchdowns against 14 interceptions, earning his second NSIC Offensive Player of the Year award and finishing fourth in Harlon Hill Trophy voting. That performance was enough to get him signed by Atlanta as an undrafted free agent despite coming from the Division II ranks.
