Jack Velling joined the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent after a college career split between Oregon State and Michigan State. He wears No. 84 for Atlanta and is looking to carve out a role as a receiving tight end after a productive four-year run in the Pac-12 and Big Ten.

Path to the league

Velling is from Seattle, Washington, and attended Seattle Preparatory School, where he caught 57 passes for 838 yards and four touchdowns as a senior before choosing Oregon State over offers from Arizona, Michigan and others. He played two seasons at Oregon State, then followed head coach Jonathan Smith to Michigan State for his final two seasons. He went undrafted in the 2026 NFL Draft and signed with Atlanta.

Career highlights

Velling earned Freshman All-American honorable mention honors after his first season at Oregon State and followed that with a second-team All-Pac-12 selection in 2023, a season that included a 60-yard touchdown catch against Colorado. At Michigan State, he closed his college career with a third-team All-Big Ten nod in 2025.

2025 season recap

As a senior at Michigan State, Velling caught 36 passes for 359 yards and three touchdowns, earning third-team All-Big Ten recognition. He went unselected in the 2026 NFL Draft but signed with the Falcons shortly after as an undrafted free agent.
