A former Washington walk-on who broke his collarbone after two high school games and still found his way to the NFL, and to a Super Bowl roster.

Jack Westover's football story almost never got started, but the versatile Washington product has turned himself into a valuable multi-purpose piece for the Patriots. Originally a tight end who converted to fullback, he has bounced between roles while building a steady NFL career in New England.

Path to the league

Westover played just two games of high school football before breaking his collarbone, then walked on at Washington in 2018 and earned a scholarship in October 2020. He went undrafted in 2024 and signed with the Seattle Seahawks as a rookie free agent before being waived off injured reserve that August.

Career highlights

At Washington, Westover appeared in 52 games with 16 starts, catching 94 offensive touches for 875 yards and seven touchdowns, with a breakout junior season of 31 receptions for 342 yards. After his release from Seattle, he joined the Patriots' practice squad in October 2024, was elevated to the active roster that November, and signed to the 53-man roster in January 2025.

2025 season recap

Westover moved from tight end to fullback for the 2025 season and became the Patriots' featured fullback, helping New England reach Super Bowl LX. He has since shifted back to tight end this offseason as a backup behind starter Hunter Henry following the team's addition of Reggie Gilliam at fullback.
