Jake Slaughter arrives in Los Angeles as one of the most decorated centers in this year's draft class, a five-year Florida Gator who finished his career as a Rimington Trophy finalist. The Chargers took him in the second round, and while he manned center in Gainesville, the plan in LA is to break him in at left guard as a rookie.
Path to the league
Slaughter, a three-star recruit out of Trinity Catholic High School in Ocala, Florida, redshirted his first year at Florida before working his way into the starting lineup. He played 51 career games with 33 starts for the Gators and was selected by the Los Angeles Chargers in the second round, 63rd overall, of the 2026 NFL Draft.
Career highlights
Slaughter earned first-team All-SEC and first-team All-American honors in 2024 after allowing just one sack and one quarterback hit over roughly 800 snaps. He returned for a fifth season in 2025, was named a second-team All-American, and posted the second-best run-blocking grade among FBS centers with at least 500 snaps while allowing only four total pressures on the year.
