A juco-to-Power-Five success story, Jakorian Bennett parlayed a nation-leading pass-breakup season at Maryland into an NFL career built on ball skills and top-end speed.

Jakorian Bennett is a cornerback who worked his way up from junior college to become one of the most productive coverage defenders in the Big Ten before landing in the NFL. Traded from the Raiders to the Eagles in the summer of 2025, he brings a track sprinter's closing speed and a knack for finding the football to Philadelphia's secondary.

Path to the league

Bennett began his college career at Hutchinson Community College before transferring to Maryland, where he started for three seasons. The Las Vegas Raiders traded up in the fourth round of the 2023 NFL Draft to select him with the 104th overall pick, valuing his rare speed after he ran one of the fastest 40-yard dash times at the combine.

At Maryland, Bennett led all Power Five players with 16 pass deflections in 2021 and followed that up by leading the nation with 27 pass breakups in 2022. He was a two-time honorable mention All-Big Ten selection and was named MVP of the Duke's Mayo Bowl after a game-sealing interception against NC State.

2025 season recap

Bennett was traded from the Raiders to the Eagles in August 2025 in exchange for defensive tackle Thomas Booker IV. His first season in Philadelphia was interrupted by a pectoral injury that landed him on injured reserve in late September, and he returned to action in mid-November to close out the year in the Eagles' secondary.
