Jared Wayne is a Houston Texans wide receiver from Peterborough, Ontario, who built his name at Pittsburgh with over 2,300 career receiving yards. He has spent his pro career fighting for snaps as an undrafted free agent, most recently securing a futures deal to keep his NFL dream alive.

Path to the league

Wayne starred at Clearwater Academy International in Florida after starting his high school career in Ontario, then played four seasons at Pittsburgh from 2019 to 2022. He went unselected in the 2023 NFL Draft and signed with the Houston Texans as an undrafted free agent.

Career highlights

Wayne's production at Pittsburgh grew every season, culminating in a 2022 breakout of 60 receptions for 1,063 yards and five touchdowns, including an 11-catch, 199-yard, three-touchdown outburst against Miami in the season finale. That season earned him Second-team All-ACC honors and a finalist nod for the Jon Cornish Trophy, given annually to the top Canadian player in college football.

2025 season recap

Wayne has remained on Houston's roster through multiple moves but has seen only limited action, finishing with 2 receptions for 20 yards on the season. He signed a reserve/futures contract with the Texans in January 2026 to continue his bid for a larger role.
