Jaylin Simpson built his reputation at Auburn as a ball-hawking safety who could line up all over the secondary, capping his five-year college run with first-team All-SEC honors. Drafted by the Colts in 2024 and converted to cornerback, he has since moved through the Jets and now Green Bay as he works to establish himself as a regular contributor.

Path to the league

Simpson played five seasons at Auburn from 2019 to 2023, developing from a reserve into one of the SEC's more productive defensive backs. His breakout came in 2023, when he was named first-team All-SEC and opened the season with a 50-yard interception return for a touchdown. The Indianapolis Colts selected him in the fifth round, 164th overall, of the 2024 NFL Draft and moved him from safety to cornerback.

Career highlights

Simpson's college resume includes multiple interceptions at both safety and cornerback after Auburn shifted him between the positions, along with his first-team All-SEC honor as a senior. He was a four-star recruit out of Georgia who chose Auburn over Alabama, Clemson, Florida State, Georgia, and LSU.

2025 season recap

Simpson was waived by the Jets in August 2025 after spending his rookie year bouncing between the Colts' and Jets' rosters. The Green Bay Packers signed him on August 18, 2025, and he was elevated for game action before being added to the active roster on December 30, 2025, recording eight tackles in his appearance.
