Josh Ross entered the league as an undrafted free agent out of Michigan in 2022 and has since worked his way through stops with Baltimore, Seattle and now Minnesota. A Detroit native, he has built his NFL career largely on special teams and depth linebacker snaps.
Path to the league
Ross played college football at Michigan, where he earned third-team All-Big Ten honors in 2021. He signed with the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent following the 2022 NFL Draft.
Career highlights
Ross spent his first two NFL seasons with Baltimore, appearing in five games combined and contributing primarily on special teams. In 2024, he played seven games with the Ravens before being traded to the Seattle Seahawks, where he appeared in ten more games.
2025 season recap
Ross was waived by Seattle during final roster cuts in August 2025. Minnesota signed him to its practice squad in December 2025 and later to a reserve/futures contract in January 2026, giving him a fresh opportunity to compete for a linebacker role with the Vikings.
