Kevin Austin Jr.'s road to the NFL ran through a lost season at Notre Dame, an unclaimed stint in Jacksonville and a championship run in the UFL before New Orleans gave him a real opportunity. He has since developed into a trusted depth receiver who came up big late in the 2025 season.

Path to the league

Austin's Notre Dame career was defined by setbacks, he missed his entire sophomore season due to suspension and battled a fractured foot as a junior, before breaking out as a senior with 48 receptions for 888 yards and seven touchdowns. He finished his college career with 54 catches for 996 yards and seven touchdowns in 26 games. He went undrafted in 2022 and signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars, spending time on the practice squad before his release in 2023.

Career highlights

After Jacksonville, Austin won a championship with the Birmingham Stallions of the UFL in 2024 before his contract was terminated to pursue NFL opportunities. He signed with the New Orleans Saints in July 2024 and has remained with the organization since.

2025 season recap

Austin appeared in 16 games for New Orleans in 2025, catching 24 passes for 291 yards and scoring his first career touchdown, a go-ahead score in a Week 17 comeback win at Tennessee. His usage grew significantly down the stretch after a quiet start to the season.
