A seventh-round pick out of Syracuse who carved out a niche as a rookie kickoff returner in Jacksonville.

LeQuint Allen Jr. left Syracuse as one of the country's most productive pass-catching running backs, and the Jaguars grabbed him with the second-to-last pick of the 2025 draft to add depth behind Travis Etienne and Tank Bigsby. His rookie year turned into mostly a special-teams apprenticeship as he waited for touches on offense.

Path to the league

Allen starred at Millville Senior High School in New Jersey before enrolling at Syracuse, where he became a three-year contributor in the Orange backfield. Jacksonville selected him 236th overall in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft, making him the fifth Syracuse player the Jaguars have ever drafted.

Career highlights

Over three seasons at Syracuse, Allen rushed for 2,359 yards and 26 touchdowns while adding 119 receptions for 848 yards and six more scores through the air. His 2023 season earned him second-team All-ACC honors, and in 2024 he led the ACC with 17 total touchdowns while pacing all FBS running backs in receiving.

2025 season recap

Allen appeared in 17 regular-season games as a rookie but made just one start, finishing with 23 carries for 94 yards and 10 catches for 54 yards on offense. He found his clearest role on special teams, returning 24 kickoffs for 617 yards, and added a handful of touches in Jacksonville's lone playoff game.
