Max Tomczak turned a record-breaking FCS career at Youngstown State into an undrafted free agent deal with the Buffalo Bills. The Illinois native, whose uncle Mike Tomczak spent 15 seasons as an NFL quarterback, enters the league as a polished route runner with a reliable set of hands.
Path to the league
Tomczak starred at Lincoln-Way East High School in Frankfort, Illinois before playing five seasons at Youngstown State from 2021 to 2025. He went unselected in the 2026 NFL Draft and signed with the Buffalo Bills as an undrafted free agent on May 8, 2026.
Career highlights
Tomczak set Youngstown State's career record with 225 receptions and ranks second in program history with 3,024 receiving yards. He earned back-to-back first-team All-Missouri Valley Football Conference honors in 2024 and 2025 and was named to the MVFC All-Newcomer Team as a redshirt freshman.

In his final college season, Tomczak caught 70 passes for 1,021 yards and eight touchdowns, earning All-American recognition and a second straight first-team All-MVFC selection before signing with the Bills that offseason.
