Steelers edge rusher who led the NFL in pass-rush win rate in 2025 and signed a four-year, $100 million extension in June 2026.
Nick Herbig went from a 2023 second-round pick to one of the most efficient pass rushers in football in three seasons. In 2025 he posted the highest pass-rush win rate in the NFL, and Pittsburgh rewarded him with a four-year, $100 million extension in June 2026, a year before his rookie deal was set to expire.
Path to the league
Wisconsin product taken in the second round by Pittsburgh in 2023. The younger brother of NFL linebacker Nate Herbig, he developed behind and alongside T.J. Watt before carving out a featured pass-rush role of his own.
2025 season
Set career highs with 7.5 sacks, 18 quarterback hits, three forced fumbles, an interception, and a fumble return for a touchdown. His 26.3 percent pass-rush win rate led the entire NFL, signaling he was beating blockers more consistently than any edge rusher in the league even if the raw sack total was modest.
2026 extension
Signed a four-year, $100 million extension with $42 million guaranteed, an average of $25 million per year. 'It was my desire to be a Steeler for life,' he said. He joins T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith in an expensive, versatile Pittsburgh pass-rush group, embracing a do-everything role.
