Rashad Rochelle began his college career as a running back at Rutgers before finding his home as a receiver and dynamic return man at Indiana State. His versatility and explosiveness in the FCS ranks earned him a three-year contract with the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent in 2026.
Path to the league
Rochelle starred at Springfield High School in Springfield, Illinois, before starting his college career at Rutgers in 2022, primarily as a rushing and return specialist. He transferred to Indiana State for the 2024 season, where he developed into a full-time receiver and remained one of the FCS's top return threats. Seattle signed him as an undrafted free agent on May 14, 2026, to a three-year, $3.1 million contract.
Career highlights
At Indiana State, Rochelle earned All-MVFC First Team honors and FCS Football Central Third Team All-American recognition. Over his two seasons with the Sycamores, he combined for 97 receptions, more than 1,270 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns, while also handling extensive kickoff and punt return duties.
2025 season recap
In his final college season, Rochelle caught 39 passes for 743 yards and eight touchdowns while adding 17 kickoff returns for 457 yards and a touchdown. His signature moment came in an upset of South Dakota State, where he opened the game with a 95-yard kickoff return touchdown and added two receiving scores, earning First-team All-MVFC honors.
