Reddy Steward's road to a regular NFL role wound through three different franchises in three years. After going undrafted out of Troy, he finally settled in with the Cowboys in 2025, reuniting with a coordinator who knew his game from Chicago.
Path to the league
Steward starred at Troy, earning first-team All-Sun Belt honors twice and finishing his college career with 181 tackles, nine interceptions, 42 pass breakups and two pick-sixes over his final two seasons. He went unselected in the 2024 NFL Draft and signed with the Chicago Bears as an undrafted free agent.
Career highlights
Steward's best college season came in 2022, when he posted a 90.7 overall grade from Pro Football Focus, the third-highest mark among all FBS cornerbacks that year. After his rookie year with Chicago, the Minnesota Vikings signed him to a futures deal in January 2025, but released him that August. Dallas claimed him off waivers days later.
2025 season recap
Steward played all 17 games for the Cowboys in 2025, starting five, and finished with 63 tackles, five tackles for loss, three pass breakups and a forced fumble across 496 defensive snaps. He reunited with defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus, his former head coach in Chicago, and settled into a rotational role in Dallas' secondary.
