Reed Blankenship went from unheralded college captain to Eagles starter to Super Bowl champion, all without ever hearing his name called in an NFL Draft. His tackling instincts and physicality made him one of the league's better value finds at safety.

Path to the league

Blankenship went undrafted out of Middle Tennessee in 2022 and signed with the Philadelphia Eagles, becoming one of just three undrafted free agents to make the roster out of training camp. He finished his college career as Middle Tennessee's all-time leader in tackles.

Career highlights

Blankenship broke out in 2023 with career highs of 108 tackles and 3 interceptions, the most tackles by an Eagles safety since 1994. He helped anchor Philadelphia's secondary through a Super Bowl LIX championship run before signing a three-year, $24.75 million contract with Houston in free agency.

2025 season recap

Blankenship played all 16 games for Philadelphia in 2025, finishing with 83 tackles, four pass breakups, one interception, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery while logging over 1,000 defensive snaps for the first time in his career.
