A special-teams standout who took a four-college path to San Diego State, Segun Olubi has built a reliable NFL career on hustle plays after going undrafted in 2022.

Segun Olubi's road to the NFL wound through four different colleges before he landed at San Diego State as a walk-on who worked his way into a captaincy. He has since carved out a niche as one of the league's more productive special-teams linebackers, most recently signing with the Raiders after four seasons in Indianapolis.

Path to the league

Olubi's college career took him from College of Idaho (2017) to Saddleback College (2018) to Harding University (2019) before he finally landed at San Diego State (2020-2021), where he went from walk-on to team captain and recorded 53 tackles as a senior. He signed with the San Francisco 49ers as an undrafted free agent in 2022 before being released in roster cuts.

Career highlights

Olubi spent four seasons with the Indianapolis Colts (2022-2025), appearing in 51 games as a special-teams contributor and backup linebacker. Through 2025, he compiled 27 career tackles, an interception, a fumble recovery, and two blocked punts.

2025 season recap

Olubi played all 17 games for the Colts in 2025, recording 11 special-teams tackles, a forced fumble, and a blocked punt, one of just 13 players in the NFL to reach double-digit special-teams tackles with a forced fumble that season. He blocked a punt against the Raiders on October 5, 2025, months before signing with Las Vegas in free agency.
