Ohio State's first-ever Big Ten Linebacker of the Year, now building a niche as one of the Raiders' top special-teams tacklers.

Tommy Eichenberg came out of Ohio State as one of the most decorated linebackers in program history, and while his role in Las Vegas has leaned heavily on special teams so far, he has already left his mark on the franchise record book.

Path to the league

Eichenberg starred at Saint Ignatius High School in Cleveland before redshirting his first year at Ohio State. He developed into a two-time first-team All-Big Ten linebacker and became the first Buckeye ever named Big Ten Linebacker of the Year in 2023, an award established in 2011. He was also named defensive MVP of the 2022 Rose Bowl after a 17-tackle performance in Ohio State's win over Utah. The Raiders drafted him in the fifth round, 148th overall, in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Career highlights

Eichenberg is the younger brother of former Notre Dame tackle and Miami Dolphins second-round pick Liam Eichenberg. Through his first two NFL seasons he has appeared in 31 games, mostly as a special-teams contributor, totaling 49 combined tackles.

2025 season recap

Eichenberg set the Raiders' franchise record for special-teams tackles in a single season with 23 in 2025, and began cracking the regular defensive rotation late in the year starting in Week 14, adding 8 solo tackles on defense.
