A former App State All-American who led the nation in pass breakups, Shemar Jean-Charles earned a Super Bowl ring in 2025 despite spending the season sidelined.

Shemar Jean-Charles built his name as a shutdown corner at Appalachian State before the Green Bay Packers drafted him in 2021. After stops in Green Bay, San Francisco and New Orleans, he joined Seattle in 2025, where a training camp injury kept him off the field for most of the year even as the team won it all.

Path to the league

Jean-Charles was a first-team All-American at Appalachian State in 2020, leading the nation with 16 pass breakups and 17 total passes defended as a senior. The Green Bay Packers selected him in the fifth round, 178th overall, in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Career highlights

Jean-Charles has played across five NFL seasons, spending time with the Packers (2021-22), San Francisco 49ers (2023) and New Orleans Saints (2023-24) before signing with the Seahawks organization in March 2025. His college testing numbers, a 4.47-second 40-yard dash and 35-inch vertical, reflected the athleticism that made him a coveted defensive back prospect.

2025 season recap

Jean-Charles suffered a training camp injury in 2025 and spent the season on Seattle's practice squad rather than the active roster. He still celebrated with his teammates as the Seahawks beat the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LX, earning a championship ring for his role behind the scenes.
