Trey Palmer needed a change of scenery to become a star. After limited chances at LSU, he transferred to Nebraska and broke the school's single-season receiving yards record, parlaying that into an NFL career that has included stops with Tampa Bay and New Orleans.

Path to the league

Palmer played sparingly across three seasons at LSU behind a crowded receiver room before transferring to Nebraska for his final college season. He broke Nebraska's single-season receiving yards record and earned second-team All-Big Ten honors in 2022, finishing his college career with 71 catches for 1,043 yards and 9 touchdowns at Nebraska. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers drafted him in the sixth round, 191st overall, of the 2023 NFL Draft.

Career highlights

Palmer spent two seasons with Tampa Bay, appearing in 32 games with 11 starts and recording 51 receptions for 557 yards and 4 touchdowns. His combine speed, including a 4.33-second 40-yard dash, has made him a consistent vertical and return-game threat.

2025 season recap

Tampa Bay waived Palmer in August 2025, and the New Orleans Saints claimed him off waivers. His stint with New Orleans was cut short when he suffered a season-ending ankle injury in Week 5, limiting his 2025 output.
