Truman Jones has taken an unconventional route through football, from captaining Harvard's team and studying biomedical engineering to grinding through practice squads with three different NFL franchises. He picked up a Super Bowl ring along the way before Tennessee signed him in October 2025.
Path to the league
Jones grew up in Atlanta and attended The Westminster Schools before playing four seasons at Harvard, transitioning from defensive end to linebacker. As a senior captain in 2022 he posted 40 tackles, six sacks and three blocked kicks, earning first-team All-Ivy honors, Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year, and the Bulger Lowe Award. He graduated with a degree in biomedical engineering and went undrafted in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Career highlights
Jones signed with the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent in 2023 and spent his rookie season and most of 2024 on their practice squad, earning a Super Bowl LVIII championship ring. He later signed with the New England Patriots' practice squad and was promoted to the active roster for the 2024 season finale.
