T'Vondre Sweat established himself as one of the most disruptive run-defenders in college football at Texas before Tennessee drafted him in the second round. After two seasons with the Titans, a March 2026 trade sent the massive nose tackle to New York in exchange for Jermaine Johnson II.
Path to the league
Sweat played five seasons at Texas from 2019 to 2023, developing from a role player into a dominant senior-year force with 45 tackles, eight tackles for loss and two sacks in 2023. That season earned him the Outland Trophy and unanimous All-American honors. The Tennessee Titans selected him in the second round (38th overall) of the 2024 NFL Draft.
Career highlights
As a rookie in 2024, Sweat started all 17 games for Tennessee, recording 51 tackles, a sack and a forced fumble, and was named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team. His signature moment came in Week 15 when he stripped Joe Burrow and returned the fumble 30 yards. At 6-foot-4 and 366 pounds, he remains one of the league's most physically imposing interior linemen.
2025 season recap
Sweat's 2025 season with Tennessee was interrupted by ankle injuries in Weeks 1 through 3 that landed him on injured reserve; he was activated and returned to action on October 18. He was traded to the Jets on March 12, 2026, and now wears No. 99 as New York's starting nose tackle.
