Tyrell Shavers took the long way to relevance, bouncing from Alabama to Mississippi State to San Diego State before going undrafted in 2023. He spent two seasons on Buffalo's practice squad and fringe roster before finally sticking in 2025, when he showed the size and contested-catch ability that made him a draft sleeper years earlier.
Path to the league
Shavers began his college career at Alabama, where he redshirted and played mostly special teams, then transferred to Mississippi State and finally San Diego State. He broke out with the Aztecs in 2022, catching 38 passes for 643 yards and three touchdowns and earning second-team All-Mountain West honors. He went undrafted in 2023 and signed with the Buffalo Bills.
