Versatile former Texans first-rounder traded to Cleveland in March 2026 and signed to a three-year extension.
Tytus Howard spent his first seven NFL seasons in Houston after the Texans made him a first-round pick out of Alabama State in 2019. A position-flexible lineman who has played tackle and guard, he gives the Browns a proven veteran for their reshaped front. Cleveland acquired him in a trade and locked him up long-term.
Path to the league
Howard came out of FCS Alabama State and went 23rd overall to Houston in 2019. He started all 93 games he played for the Texans across seven seasons, lining up at multiple spots along the line.
2025 season and trade
In 2025 Howard took snaps at right tackle, right guard and left guard for Houston, showing the versatility that defines his game. On March 11, 2026 the Texans traded him to Cleveland in exchange for a fifth-round pick, and he signed a three-year, $63 million extension as part of the move.
