Xavier Smith went undrafted out of Florida A&M in 2023 but has stuck around Los Angeles by making himself useful in every phase, from spot duty at receiver to a steady presence in the return game. Path to the league

Smith redshirted his first year at Florida A&M before developing into one of the most productive receivers in program history, finishing his career with 276 receptions for 3,699 yards and 30 touchdowns and earning three-time All-Conference honors. He signed with the Rams as an undrafted free agent after the 2023 NFL Draft.

Smith has worked his way from an undrafted long shot into a rotational role for Los Angeles, valued as much for his return skills as his receiving. He has re-signed with the team on exclusive rights and futures tenders to keep his roster spot each offseason.

2025 season recap

Smith caught 18 passes for 303 yards over 16 games in 2025, without a touchdown, while also handling return duties, adding 301 kickoff-return yards and 251 punt-return yards on the season. His role expanded as the year went on, giving the Rams a depth receiver who also doubled as a core special-teams contributor behind starters Puka Nacua and Davante Adams.
