Week 2: Dan Quinn Returns to Dallas as Two 0-1 NFC East Teams Meet

Read the full recap →

The Washington Commanders visit the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, September 20. Washington lost 24-22 at Philadelphia with Jayden Daniels throwing for 164 yards in his first game in 11 months and the Commanders coming up short on a late two-point try; Frankie Luvu, Chig Okonkwo and Jordan Magee carry injury tags into the week without being ruled out. Dallas lost 28-20 at the Giants, allowing 394 yards in Christian Parker's first game as defensive coordinator, and now plays without guard Tyler Smith, safety Malik Hooker and linebacker DeMarvion Overshown for at least the next couple of weeks.

Quinn's homecoming

Washington's coach was Dallas' defensive coordinator from 2021 to 2023; his defense sacked Jalen Hurts three times but gave up half of Philadelphia's yards on four plays.

Dallas' injuries on defense

Rookie Jaishawn Barham and Dee Winters at linebacker and P.J. Locke in the sub packages, against a Commanders offense that ran for 132 yards in Week 1.

Daniels' comeback continues

The Commanders' offense was thin behind Laremy Tunsil's replacement and needed a late rally; Dallas allowed 175 passing yards to Dak Prescott's counterpart with no explosive plays of its own.

Winner called correctly Confidence: Low

How the prediction did

Predicted 24-27 (Commanders vs Cowboys), final was 20-37. Right winner at Low confidence, short on the margin. Dak Prescott went 26 of 31 with four touchdown passes, two to CeeDee Lamb, who had 153 yards. Dallas won by 17 against a projected 3.

Home field and Prescott's continuity

Dallas' offense is intact at quarterback and receiver, and the Commanders' patched line gave up pressure to Philadelphia.

Washington's offense is more dangerous than its Week 1 line

Daniels' legs and a 132-yard rushing day against a Dallas front missing Overshown make the Commanders live to win outright.

Two shaky defenses

Dallas allowed 394 yards, Washington allowed 318 with four explosive plays; the model expects both offenses to score and the margin to be a field goal.

A narrow home lean that matches the sportsbook line. Dallas' defensive injuries are why confidence stays low.
